The Medical Assistant will perform assigned nursing care
activities in the shelter. This position will assist in the
documentation of activities including daily/monthly reports and
patient record processing. The Medical Assistant will be directly
reporting to the Registered Nurse and Lead Medical Coordinator.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for interviewing and recording medical/personal
information on patient's files.
Assists in controlling patient flow, explaining clinical
procedures and prepare the patient(s) for medical exams.
Acts as an interpreter when necessary for the medical
Draws blood samples, conducts tests of urine samples, screen for
vision and hearing levels, and takes vital signs and records
information on charts.
Administers vaccines and other prescribed medication under
Assists with documentation of activities including daily/monthly
reports and patient record processing.
Orders and maintains inventory control of medical supplies.
Adjusts/position equipment such as scales, exam tables,
furniture, and projector or screen.
Maintains and adheres to HIPAA regulations at all times.
Cleans up and sterilizes all technical areas and equipment.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Performs duties in a safe manner.
Follows the corporate safety policy.
Participates and supports safety meetings, training, and
Ensures the safety and security of all UAC and the operating
conditions within an area of responsibility.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Evacuates site with short notice in case of an emergency.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical Assistant Certification.
Fluent in English and Spanish (speak, read, and write).
21 years of age.
1 year of clinical experience.
Clean criminal background check.
Clean child abuse and neglect or child protective services check
Associate's Degree in a related field.
3 years' experience working as a Medical Assistant.
Ability to ascend/descend stairs.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Visual acuity required to complete paperwork and computer
Able to withstand changing environmental conditions with the
weather (rain, lightning, extreme heat and winds).
Able to withstand and manipulate through construction areas,
sports fields, etc.
Ability to stand; particularly for sustained periods of
Able to provide visual and auditory supervision as needed to
maintain the health and safety of children in care as required by
