CONTROL BOOTH OPERATORSALARY: $23,000.00 per year. Purpose of ClassificationPerforms support work in providing supervision of juveniles in the detention center. Duties include monitoring juvenile offenders and their daily activities. Positions in this class perform routine monitoring and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies; answer questions, and maintain documents and records. Essential FunctionsThe following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.Files paperwork on resident's admission packages; prepares paperwork ready for court or transport.Operates the electronic security control panel; opens facility doors for when employees enter and exit.Answers control booth telephone; rotates resident's pods to classes with school district teachers; directs the residents to the assigned school classes.Monitors numerous electronic TV surveillance screens.Serves as dispatcher for the Boot Camp two way radio system.Writes down in a logbook who enters, exits the facility including parents and/or probation officers that visit residents in the facility.Maintains a daily shift log of Boot Camp activities.Updates cadet chronological notes.Maintains the security key log, fire drill, log, over the counter medication log, and drug screen log.Additional FunctionsPerforms other related duties as required.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job as required by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. Licenses, Certificates, and ExperienceMust be over twenty-one (21) years of age (for state certification requirements);Current Texas Driver's License and must have current automobile insurance;Ability to communicate effectively (reading, writing, and understanding) in English; knowledge of Spanish is preferred;Able to submit to a drug urinalysis pre-screening exam and pass a criminal background check. If the candidate for employment does have a criminal record, it must be cleared through the requirements as set forth by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department; After Hire Licenses or CertificatesJuvenile Supervision Officer CertificationCardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification and First Aid (FA)Handle with Care (HWC) State Approved Restraint Technique CertificationADA CompliancePhysical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of lightweight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.This is not a Civil Service covered position.
