THE OPPORTUNITY: The City of Brownsville is in a transformative

The ideal candidate for a Maintenance Worker I is to aspire to

The Maintenance Worker I will to clean and maintain fixed route
bus stops, the downtown terminal, north side transfer Station, and
Multimodal Terminal and BUS administrative offices. Also
responsible for responding to emergency cleaning duties on vehicles
while on route. The class works according to set procedures under
direct supervision. A majority of the time will be spent

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Performs detailed cleaning of BUS fleet, including buses, vans,
and administrative vehicles.
- Performs general cleaning, such as mopping, sweeping, and
dusting of BUS facilities.
- Operates a variety of tools and equipment, such as lawnmowers,
blowers, and weed eaters for cleaning and maintenance of BUS
- Performs routine landscaping maintenance such as trimming trees
and mowing lawns.
- May perform light carpentry work, such as painting walls,
repairing shelves, and similar tasks.
- Performs related tasks as necessary.
- Requires high school diploma, or GED.
- Requires a minimum of one year of work related experience
SPECIAL CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES:
- Requires a valid TX Driver's License
Ability to exert up to 35-50 lbs. of force occasionally or a
negligible amount of energy frequently to lift, push, pull or
otherwise move objects. Performs medium work that involves walking,
standing, stooping, jumping, stretching, or lifting all of the time
and involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a
regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness and
speed in the use of the fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving
close tolerances or limits of accuracy. Work is primarily performed
outside with exposure to dangerous tools, equipment, machinery,
inclement weather conductions, noise and fumes. This position is
subjected to emergency call back if required.
