The Customer Service Representative will provide a high level of service to patrons. The class is responsible for answering and redirecting calls, assisting applicants navigate the department website, scheduling inspections. The class works according to set procedures under direct supervision.

KEY FUNCTIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Maintains positive customer relations through customer service.
  • Answers and screens phone calls
  • Guides applicants navigate the department website
  • Assists permit holders schedule inspections
  • Performs data entry functions.
  • Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Performs related tasks, as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires high school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE :

  • Requires a minimum of six months related experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT :

Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, or skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation electronic office machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

The City of Brownsville requires all employees to successfully pass a Drug & Alcohol examination and a Background Check.
