The position participates in the planning, organization, and delivery of cross-disciplinary services such as case work, counseling, and specialized treatment.Primary Duties and Responsibilities Interviews client, family member, and other agency staff members to obtain information for intake, residential treatment plans, and other pertinent information. Evaluates behavioral and emotional problems through interactions with clients and their family member. Participates with and supervises resident in daily programmatic activities. Performs individual and group counseling under the direction of appropriate supervisor. Assumes responsibility for specified areas of service such as education, drug and alcohol, abuse and victimization, clinical HIV/AIDS, group services, family sessions, or referral agency contact. Assists administrative, supervisory, and clinical staff members in the direction of the cross-disciplinary treatment team. Maintains records and reports progression of clients based upon treatment, behavior, and diagnosis. Discusses progress toward goals with client, family member, and referral agency on a regular basis through progress notes, service logs, conferences, phone calls, and written reports to referral agency. Maintains safety and security of the clients and the program/facility. Interpret programmatic activities for staff members and assist them to provide integrated services. Participates in conferences for the discussion of behavior, diagnosis, and progress of clients. Attends staff meetings and conferences. Complies with work rules and policies as explained in the company Employee Handbook, and the Facility Policies and Procedures Manual; and responds positively to directives from managers and supervisors in a cooperative spirit to ensure conformance to standards. Adheres to attendance policy; work overtime as required, to ensure adequate coverage of the program and to ensure the safety and security of the residents. Complies with safety rules; take appropriate corrective action to ensure work is performed in a safe manner and without injury to self or others. Communicates effectively with all levels of staff in a manner that promotes a team spirit and a sense of cooperation. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services as a registered Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern. Familiar with community corrections systems and current community corrections practices. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to communicate effectively and confront negative behavior. Possess assertiveness, confidence, and leadership abilities. Good oral and written communication skills. Good time management skills. Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
