Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATORY ENGINEERRESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure measures from existing and future site operational regulatory requirements are fully implemented, tracked and reported, this includes: Implementing project Special Conservation Measures (SCMs) and Terms and Conditions (T&C) from USFWS Biological Opinion Oversee SCM and T&C program including, implementing, tracking and reporting measures as well as overseeing required biological monitoring workMaintain compliance with Section 106 Programmatic AgreementMaintain site operational compliance plans including Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures PlanAny other applicable environmental-related agreements related to site operations or launch licensing Identify and determine the need for permits or consultations that are required by the federal, state, and county for operations at Starbase Identify the need for surveys or assessments required for development or operations including delineating wetlands, identifying cultural resources and potential wildlife habitatCoordinate and manage contractors for surveys. Review and maintain reports and other relevant records from such surveysDraft permits in consultation with internal stakeholders, consult and file permits with federal, state and county, and maintain relevant recordsDevelop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations Review and interpret new and proposed environmental laws and regulations, and provide guidance to managementPerform environmental compliance and due diligence audits to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agenciesMaintain recordkeeping and compliance requirementsAssist the Environmental Health and Safety team with site operational compliance as needed Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)Develop and maintain positive relationships with federal, state and county officialsDevelop and maintain positive and close working relationships with engineering teams across the siteBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors degree3+ years of experience in environmental sciences PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Demonstrated experience in National Environmental Policy Act documentation (NEPA)Section 404 permitting, Endangered Species Act complianceExperience with following agencies: EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, TCEQ, TRRC, RWQCB, USACE, NPS, USACE, USFWSStrong written and verbal communication skillsUnderstands project plans, specifications, and construction workflowAble to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with other engineers, managers, federal, state and county agenciesHighly self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with ongoing drive for continuous improvement in all aspects of workADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as neededCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay range:Environmental Regulatory Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per yearEnvironmental Regulatory Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per yearYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
