POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing CT procedures in a timely manner.
Performs procedures according to the physician's orders. As a
member of the Radiology team, the CT Technologist is responsible
for working collaboratively with other members to assure the safe
and accurately delivery of patient care.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited radiology program required.
Current state certification (i.e.Texas Medical Board) required.
Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
general certification required within six (6) months of hire
required.
American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) CT
certification within twelve (12) months of hire required.
American Heart Association BLS certification required.
American Heart Association ACLS and PALS recommended.
Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
Secretarial experience and organizational skills are necessary.
Good verbal and written communication skills required.
Ability to read, write, and speak English required. Spanish
preferred.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of
nursing, administration, and physicians.
Computer knowledge required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
At least two (2) years of hospital experience as a Radiologic
Technologist or CT Technologist preferred.
Able to demonstrate high degree of competency and experience with
CT procedures.
Demonstrates accuracy, and the ability to closely follow
established procedures.
Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
Requires working with frequent interruptions.
Must project a professional image.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively
communicating them to others.
Considers mission, vision and values in developing services,
standards and practices
Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for scheduled
procedures.
Performs necessary quality control and maintenance on
equipment.
Responsible for the care and cleanliness of equipment, supplies,
and work area.
Responsible for performing all CT radiological procedures in a
timely manner.
Performs all CT procedures as per procedure protocols, optimizing
imaging examinations to use only the radiation necessary to produce
diagnostic-quality images.
Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and
directions.
Assumes responsibility for the collection and processing of patient
specimens.
Completes accurate documentation on patient records according to
policy.
Able to perform the necessary functions on the facility's computer
systems.
Insures exams are verified and completed in PACS and RIS
systems.
Responsible for training CT technologists with the appropriate
procedure protocols.
Maintain Texas Department of Health (TDH), American College of
Radiology (ACR), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS),
and Joint Commission standards.
Maintain equipment and procedure competencies.
Able to operate all appropriate clinical equipment in a safe and
appropriate manner.
Complete and update all employment requirements, including
Health.edu, Employee Health, and Radiology Competencies, and
Credentials.
Responsible for earning and submitting 10 Category A credits of
continuing education related to CT annually.
Passing of a registry does not constitute CE credits.
Call is required.
Other duties as assigned.

Provide excellent customer service to all DHR customers. All

B.Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her
time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to
noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not
necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low
exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and
some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
C.Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure
to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III
(although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which
anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body
fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as
part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical
care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other
way.
