The Sewing Machine Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing day-to-to maintenance on all plant equipment, including electrical and mechanical tasks as necessary, on the second shift. This associate will maintain all equipment for the sewing and cutting departments throughout manufacturing operations and the warehouse.Responsibilities include:Operate or tend sewing machines to join, reinforce, decorate, or perform related sewing operations in the manufacture of cubicle and bedding products. Responsibilities may also include cutting as well as pack and fold. Inspect finished products to ensure product is manufactured to company and customer specifications.Knowledge on the use of the following sewing industrial machines: Single Needle Lockstitch, Double Needle, Safety Stitch/Overlock/Serge, Multi Needle, Walking Foot, Blind StitchSpecial tooling: sewing folders/zipper foot/binding folders. Selects thread according to specificationsPlaces spool on spindle and draws thread through machine guides, tension devices and needle eyeIf applicable, inserts bobbin into shuttle and draws thread through slot in shuttle wallSews items, checking for correct stitching, quality, and uniformityCalls department supervisor to report any needed repairs or machine adjustmentsResponsible for safety and good housekeeping practices around work areasPromptly completes any other duties and responsibilities designated by the department supervisorQualifications include:High school diploma or equivalentSewing skills: able to run industrial sewing machines: examples of, but not limited to Blindhemmer, serger, pleating, single and double needle straight sew, spot, juki, bonis, and bar tackersProcesses require standing for full shift.Available for a standard 40-hour shift and overtime, when necessary. Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 40 lbs.
